Anxiety Counselling
When your mind won't switch off
Anxiety can make everyday life feel uncertain, exhausting and difficult to navigate.
You may understand that your fears aren't always rational, but that doesn't make them feel any less real.
You might spend a lot of time worrying about what could happen, replaying conversations or imagining everything that might go wrong. Perhaps you seek reassurance, avoid situations that feel uncomfortable or find it difficult to relax even when things are going well.
Your anxiety may also show up physically — through tension, restlessness, changes in your breathing, difficulty sleeping or a feeling that you always need to be prepared for something.
How we might work together
Pluralistic counselling means that we'll explore what works for you.
Together, we might look at the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, explore where your anxiety comes from and consider different ways of responding when anxiety appears.
Our work might include:
Identifying triggers and patterns
Exploring anxious thoughts and beliefs
Understanding avoidance and reassurance-seeking
Developing ways to manage difficult moments
Exploring fears around uncertainty and control
Building confidence in situations you've been avoiding
Understanding how previous experiences may influence your anxiety
Developing self-compassion
Finding ways to make choices based on what matters to you rather than what anxiety tells you
You remain in control of the process. We'll talk openly about what's useful and adapt our work as we go.
You might be feeling...
Constantly worried or on edge
Unable to switch off your thoughts
Afraid of making mistakes
Concerned about what other people think
Overwhelmed by uncertainty
Physically tense or restless
Like you're avoiding things you'd actually like to do
Tired of needing reassurance
Frustrated that anxiety seems to be making decisions for you
You might be thinking about counselling because...
Perhaps anxiety is beginning to affect your relationships, work, confidence or everyday life.
You may have tried to manage it yourself — telling yourself to stop worrying, keeping busy or trying to control every possible outcome — but find that the anxiety keeps returning.
Counselling can provide a safe space to understand your anxiety rather than simply trying to push it away.
Moving towards greater freedom
The aim isn't to promise a life without anxiety.
Instead, we can work towards a place where anxiety has less control over your choices and you feel more able to respond to life's uncertainties.
You can learn to listen to anxiety without always having to let it lead.
Take the first step
You don't have to understand everything before you reach out.
We can start with where you are now and work together from there.
