Stress Counselling
When life starts to feel like too much
You don't have to wait until you reach breaking point before asking for support.
What Stress May Look Like For You
Perhaps you're constantly under pressure, struggling to switch off or feeling as though you're always trying to catch up.
You might be tired but unable to properly rest. Your mind may feel busy, your body tense and your patience shorter than usual. Work, family, relationships or everyday responsibilities may all feel harder to manage than they once did.
Sometimes stress builds so gradually that we don't realise how much we're carrying until we begin to feel exhausted.
You might be feeling...
Constantly busy, pressured or on edge
Mentally exhausted but unable to switch off
Irritable, tearful or more emotional than usual
Unable to concentrate or make decisions
Guilty when you take time for yourself
Like you're responsible for everyone else
That you're coping on the outside but struggling underneath
Unsure how much longer you can keep going
You might be thinking about counselling because...
Perhaps the things you've always done to cope aren't working anymore.
You may know that something needs to change but aren't sure what. Or perhaps you simply want somewhere safe to talk without having to look after anyone else's feelings.
Counselling can give you the opportunity to pause, step back and understand what is happening for you.
You don't need to arrive with a plan or know exactly what you need. We can work that out together.
How we might work together
As a pluralistic counsellor, I don't believe there is one approach that works for everyone.
We'll work collaboratively to understand your experience and identify what would be most helpful for you. This might involve exploring your emotions and experiences, developing practical strategies, or looking at patterns that have developed over time.
We might explore:
What is contributing to your stress
Expectations and pressure you place on yourself
Boundaries and learning to say no
Perfectionism and people-pleasing
Ways of managing difficult thoughts and feelings
Your relationship with rest and self-care
Patterns that may be keeping you feeling under pressure
What you need to feel more balanced and in control
We can regularly check in about how our work together is feeling and make adjustments along the way.
Creating positive change
Counselling doesn't have to mean changing everything at once.
Sometimes positive change begins by simply creating a little space to breathe and understand what you're carrying.
From there, we can identify small, meaningful changes that feel realistic for you.
Ready to take the next step?
You don't need to have the right words or know exactly what you need before reaching out.
Our first conversation can simply be a chance to talk, ask questions and see whether working together feels right for you
