Counselling for Overwhelm
When everything feels like too much
Sometimes there isn't one particular problem.
There is simply too much.
Too many responsibilities. Too many thoughts.
Too many people needing something from you. Too many decisions to make.
You may feel mentally overloaded and emotionally exhausted, while even small tasks begin to feel impossible.
Perhaps you're functioning on the outside while privately wondering how much longer you can keep going.
You might be feeling...
Mentally overloaded
Exhausted but unable to rest
Unable to decide where to start
Tearful, irritable or emotionally drained
Guilty that you're not coping better
Like everyone else needs something from you
Unable to switch off
Disconnected from yourself
Stuck between wanting to do everything and wanting to do nothing
How we might work together
As a pluralistic counsellor, I'll work with you to understand what is behind your sense of overwhelm and what might help.
For some people, practical changes are important. For others, there may be deeper emotional experiences or patterns that need attention.
We might work on:
Understanding what is draining your energy
Identifying priorities
Exploring boundaries
Understanding people-pleasing
Managing difficult emotions
Challenging unrealistic expectations
Exploring perfectionism
Making space for rest without guilt
Learning to recognise and communicate your needs
Understanding why certain situations feel particularly overwhelming
When you're overwhelmed, the idea of making huge changes can feel overwhelming too.
So we don't have to.
We can start small — creating space to understand what you're carrying, what matters to you and what might need to change.
You don't have to solve everything today
You might be thinking about counselling because...
You may have reached the point where your usual coping strategies aren't enough.
Perhaps you're telling yourself that you should be able to cope. You might compare yourself to other people or feel guilty for struggling.
Counselling offers somewhere to put some of that weight down.
You don't need to organise your thoughts before coming. We can start exactly where you are.
Let's start where you are
Our first conversation can simply be an opportunity to talk about what's been happening and decide whether counselling feels right for you
